Everything & Everyone Praise Your Creator, the Exalted Savior
Prompts for Praise from Psalm 148

The theme of this “Hallelujah Psalm” (Ps. 145-150) is evident: Everything, everyone in heaven (vs. 1-6) & on earth (vs. 7-13) is to praise the LORD. But why? Read it & see several great reasons.

1 Praise the LORD!

Praise the LORD from the heavens;
praise him in the heights!
2Praise him, all his angels;
praise him, all his hosts!
3Praise him, sun and moon,
praise him, all you shining stars!
4Praise him, you highest heavens,
and you waters above the heavens!

5 Let them praise the name of the LORD!
For he commanded and they were created.
6And he established them forever and ever;
he gave a decree, and it shall not pass away.

7Praise the LORD from the earth,
you great sea creatures and all deeps,
8 fire and hail, snow and mist,
stormy wind fulfilling his word!
9 Mountains and all hills,
fruit trees and all cedars!
10 Beasts and all livestock,
creeping things and flying birds!
11Kings of the earth and all peoples,
princes and all rulers of the earth!
12Young men and maidens together,
old men and children!

13 Let them praise the name of the LORD,
for his name alone is exalted;
his majesty is above earth and heaven.
14He has raised up a horn for his people,
praise for all his saints,
for the people of Israel who are near to him.

Praise the LORD! (ESV)

Praise the LORD from the:

 Heavens (vs. 1): His servant spirits, sun, moon & skies - Ps. 19; 103:20, 21; 147:4, 15

• He created you by His command (vs. 5): ex nihilo – Gen 1, Ps. 33:6-9; His powerful word

• He established & controls you by His decree (vs. 6); orbits
His word & world is settled - Is. 40:8; Heb. 4:12
All things hold together in / by Him (Col. 1:16, 17; John 1:3, 10)
Only He can undo it – new heavens & earth (Rev. 20-22)

Praise the LORD from the:

 Earth: aqua life, obedient weather, soil & seedlings, all beasts & people – praise Him!

• He alone is “Raised Up”, Transcendent (vs. 13): He is exalted, majestic, Rom 1:16-32

• He has Raised Up His People, is Imminent (vs. 14):
He Protects His people raised up a horn (strength, victory, a king)
He is Praiseworthy Ps. 8
He is Personal, near for the people of Israel who are near to him. (Ps 15, 23, 24)

 The LORD God alone is worthy of worship & praise
 As Creator He is right to expect, command praise. Make much of your Maker!
 As our exalted Savior, we should serve and worship Him.

Everyone & Everything Praise the LORD!
